Good Work, Dr. Pipes

Keep up the good work, Dr. Pipes, with your TV appearances and excellent articles.

You are absolutely correct in saying our leaders need to correctly label the problem as "militant Islam" and not take refuge in general terms such as 'terrorists' or 'evil-doers.' There are all kinds of terrorists - and have been for centuries - but militant Islam is in a category all its own and deserves to be labeled as such.

In identifying this as a war against militant Islam, our leaders should not lose any sleep for possibly offending the sensitivities of the Muslim population, either here or abroad.

Militant Islam is a cancer within the greater Muslim community, they bear some responsibility by association, but do we hear any strong and ringing condemnations from their leaders? In a word, no. Occasionally, some Muslim group issues a perfunctory and insipid statement of disapproval, but overall, the silence of the Muslim community in this regard is deafening. It speaks volumes, as the saying goes. So let's encourage our leaders to specifically call this a war against militant Islam, and if some oh-so-sensitive Muslims object, so be it.

You are doing a great job, Mr. Pipes. Keep it up.
